HOLIDAY BRIDGE
Starts Monday 15 December

The bridge year is drawing to a close. Holiday Bridge now starts on 15 December and will run on Monday evenings, Tuesday afternoons, and Friday afternoons through to end of January. 

Partner's are not necessary - rock on up and we will pair people up!

The Holiday Bridge dates are:
Monday       15 December 7pm 
Tuesday      16 December 1pm 
Friday          19 December 1pm 

Club Closed - from 20 Dec to 4 Jan.

Monday         5 January 7pm 
Tuesday        6 January 1pm 
Friday            9 January 1pm 

Monday        12 January 7pm 
Tuesday       13 January 1pm 
Friday           16 January 1pm
 
Monday        19 January 7pm 
Tuesday       20 January 1pm

Please arrive 15 minutes prior to play. Table money applies. Watch the website for any updates.


TAURANGA MINI CONGRESS
Saturday 24 January - 
Monday 26 January

The annual Tauranga Mini Congress tournaments are running from Saturday 24 January through to Monday 26 January over the Anniversary weekend. 

A "Walkin Pairs" is available on Friday 23 January at 1pm. This is also our last session of Holiday Bridge. The cost for the Walkin Pairs is the usual table money of $7. You don't need to register - rock on up. (Please arrive by 12:45).

24 Jan: Mini Congress Restricted Open 3A Pairs

25 - 26 Jan: Open 10A Teams

26 Jan: Consolation 3A Swiss Pairs

Registration cutoff is on
Wednesday 21 January 5pm.


JANUARY BOOT CAMP LESSONS 

Mike Newton and the team will be running the January "Boot Camp Lessons" again this year. 

There will be two tranches for lessons this year: 
  • Improver Lessons 
  • Junior / Novice refresher lessons
You can choose which lesson you would like to attend. The lessons are likely to be held over two weeks. The dates are: 
Wednesday 14 January
Wednesday 21 January
Please put these dates in your diary. 

The costs and details for these lessons will be published soon. Watch the website for updates.

A couple of things going on that I would like to bring to your attention:
  • Te Puke Daffidol Day Charity tournament is on Sunday 24 August. All proceeds go to the Cancer Society..

  • Our Tauranga Novice, Junior, Intermediate tournaments are on Saturday the 30th of August. 

  • Sunday sessions now monthly on the 3rd Sunday of the month. Come on down for a relaxed afternoon of bridge. Remember, no partners required!

Also, on Saturday 27 September, we are holding the Tauranga Open Teams Tournament. 

We need volunteers to help with: 
  • morning tea baking, 
  • help in the kitchen, 
  • help at the front desk, and 
  • caddies.

Club Captain

We are very fortunate to have a guest Bridge expert Ron Klinger is visiting our club in December. Ron will be running a lesson on Sunday 7 December. 

The lesson will comprise of 2 workshops (a morning & afternoon session). The cost is $30 per session i.e. $60 for the full day.

Pre-registrations will be essential. These lessons will be advertised to everyone in the region so it will pay to register early. We will let you know when registrations open.

A bit of background about Ron...
Ron Klinger is an Australian contract bridge player, a leading English language bridge writer, the author of more than 70 books on the game. He is an Australian Grand Master and a World Bridge Federation International Master. His website is ronkingerbridge.com .

Club Manager

Thank you to everyone who attended the Special General Meeting on Tuesday 19th August. 

The motion was approved to  adopt the new Constitution to comply with the new Incorporated Societies Act. 

I will now start the the process to register us in accordance with the requirements of the new Act. I will update you as we step through this process. Any queries, contact me ph. (07) 576 5022.
