Tauranga Bridge Club

NZ Bridge held a 5A Open Swiss Pairs on Matariki Day. This was a fundraiser to raise funds for our international players. New Zealand’s top bridge players have the skill, the dedication, and the drive to compete internationally — but getting there isn’t cheap. Unlike other countries where elite play is fully funded, our players have to fund most of their expenses out of their own pockets. Rotorua held their Open 5A Pairs on Saturday 14 June. Congratulations to Graham Young & Judy Pawson who came 5th.

The annual Hawkes Bay Congress was held over King's Birthday weekend. The opened on Friday with a 3+1 Teams. Congratulations to the "H McAlister" Team of Hugh McAlister, Kathryn Burton, Lorraine Burns and Chris Burns came 6th.

The second round of the Bay of Plenty Pairs was hosted by Tauranga on Sunday 25 May. Congratulations to Jenna Gibbons and Christine Gibbons who came 2nd and Judy McLeod and Judy Pawson who came 3rd.

The 3rd round of the Waikato Bay Pairs was hosted by Matamata on Sunday 25 March. Congratulations to Ross Petersen and Barbara Stimson who came 7th.

The third round of the Waikato Bay Intermediate League was hosted by Katikati on Sunday 18 May. Congratulations to Janice Simpson & Ross Petersen who came 6th.

The 3rd round of the Waikato Bay Junior League was hosted by Matamata on Saturday 12 May. Congratulations to Nikki Baguley & Mark Wardill who came 3rd and Olive Boyd & Andrea Cawley who came 5th.

The Waikato Bays Regional Trials were held on 3rd May hosted by the Tauranga Bridge Club. The Auckland and Waikato Bays Intermediate Pairs were the only categories nationwide to attract sufficient pairs to trial. Well done to everyone who played and made this day possible. Congratulations to Rosemary Wilkey & Bettina Dudley who qualified second. They will represent the Waikato Bays in the Regional Championships; previously called the Inter Provincials (the IPs).
