Tauranga Bridge Club

The Tauranga Multigrade 3A tournament was held online on Wednesday 30 July. Thank you to everyone for playing in our tournament and making this a fun day. A big thank you to our director Julie Atkinson. The winners are: 1st - Paula Gregory & Anne Somerville (Timaru/Invercargill) 2nd - Sue Southen & Pam Tibble (Christchurch) 3rd - Kate Terry & Judy Pawson (Tauranga)

The North Island Pairs was held online on the weekend 2nd-3rd August.

A Special General Meeting of the Tauranga Bridge Club Inc. will be held at the Clubrooms on Tuesday August 19th, 2025, at 4.15pm. Due to recent regulation changes, our club constitution has been reviewed and updated. This meeting is to approve significant changes in new Tauranga Bridge Club constitution. If you need copies of the meeting documentation, contact the office (07) 576 5022.

The Bay of Plenty Interclub was held on Sunday 27 July. Congratulations to the Tauranga Open Team who won the Open BOP Interclub. The winning team was: Kate Terry & Rebecca Osborne, Diana McAlister & Hugh McAlister. The Open team will represent the Bay of Plenty in the Waikato/Bays Interclub final.

Matamata held their 5A Swiss Pairs on the Saturday 26 July. Congratulations to Tony Hacking & Judy McLeod who came 12th.

The fourth round of the Waikato Bay Pairs was hosted by Te Awamutu on Sunday 20 July. Congratulations to Ross Petersen and Barbara Stimson who came 15th.

Hamilton held their Open Teams tournament on Saturday 12 July. Congratulations to Diana McAlister & Hugh McAlister and team mates who came 3rd.

The fourth round of the Waikato Bay Intermediate League was hosted by Mt Maunganui on Saturday 19 July. Congratulations to Diane Rodger & Annie Barry who came 1st!

The fourth round of the Waikato Bay Junior League was hosted by Mt Maunganui on Saturday 19 July. Congratulations to Joanne Bruce & Rebecca Bartlett who came 4th.

Mt Maunganui held their Novice Pairs on Saturday 19 July. Congratulations to Julie Bickers & Claire Beard who came 5th.

The Auckland Bridge Club hosted the Auckland/Northland Regional Pairs 10A Pairs on the Saturday 19 July. Congratulations to Christine Gibbons & Jenna Gibbons who came 15th.

Hamilton held their Open Teams tournament on Saturday 12 July. Congratulations to Christine Gibbons & Jenna Gibbons and team mates who came 9th.

Tauranga held their annual Charity Pairs supporting Plunket on Wednesday 9 June. Congratulations to: 1st - Kate Terry & Cathy Parker 2nd - Joan Lloyd & Karyl Anderson 3rd - Jenny Lynam & Carolyn Parker

The Tauranga Bridge Club hosted the National 20A Swiss Pairs on the weekend. This tournament is run by NZ Bridge and comprises of nine 12-board matches run over 2 days. Congratulations to Christine Gibbons & Jenna Gibbons who came 3rd and Stephen Francks & Amanda Matthews who came 7th.

The Hamilton Bridge Club held there 5A Open Swiss Pairs online this year. The tournament was held over three sessions on three Wednesday evenings on 18 June, 25, June & 2 July 2025. Each session was made up of three nine-board matches. Congratulations to Cathy Parker & Deidre Gunn who wone 4 out of 9 matches.

The Morrinsville Open 8B Pairs was held on Saturday 28 June. Congratulations to Norm Silcock & Ruth Sweatman who came 4th. They also cam 1st in the Open/Intermediate section!

The fourth and final round of the Bay of Plenty Pairs was hosted by Te Puke on Sunday 22 June. Congratulations to Graham Young & Judy Pawson who came 1st, and Rosemary Wilkey & Tina Dudley who came 3rd.

The Bay of Plenty Pairs was hosted over four tournaments hosted by Whakatane, Tauranga, Mt Maunganui and Te Puke ending on Sunday 22 June at Te Puke. To qualify for the Bay Pairs, you need to play four sessions and be a member at a Bay of Plenty brdge club. The final results are below... Congratulations to Jenna Gibbons & Christine Gibbons who came 2nd, Bren Birss & Graham Stern who came 3rd and Rosemary Wilkey & Tina Dudley who came 5th.

NZ Bridge held a 5A Open Swiss Pairs on Matariki Day. This was a fundraiser to raise funds for our international players. New Zealand’s top bridge players have the skill, the dedication, and the drive to compete internationally — but getting there isn’t cheap. Unlike other countries where elite play is fully funded, our players have to fund most of their expenses out of their own pockets. Rotorua held their Open 5A Pairs on Saturday 14 June. Congratulations to Graham Young & Judy Pawson who came 5th.
